QR check-in is a Growth-plan feature (Basic doesn't include it).

Turning a course into an in-person event

On a course's Course info tab, set the course format to Event, then turn on "This is an in-person event" and fill in the venue address. This unlocks two things:

  • An Attendees tab on the course, with a live roster and a camera scanner for checking people in
  • A ticket with a QR code on every enrolled student's course page, under "My Tickets" in their student portal

A course that isn't marked as an in-person event has neither of these — there's nothing to check in for a purely online course, digital download, or a Zoom/Meet-based event.

Checking attendees in at the door

Open the course's Attendees tab and tap "Start scanning" to use your device's camera, or just use the search box to find someone by name or email and tap Check in manually — both update the same live roster, so a teacher checking people in from a laptop and another one scanning at the door with a phone stay in sync.

Scanning the same ticket twice shows "already checked in" with the original check-in time, rather than silently overwriting it — useful if someone steps out and comes back, since you can see when they first arrived. There's an explicit "check in anyway" option if you do need to force a second check-in.

A ticket only scans successfully for the exact event it was issued for — someone's ticket to one event won't check them into a different one, even at the same school.

What students see

Once enrolled in an in-person event, a student finds their ticket under "My Tickets" in their portal: the event name, venue, their name, and a QR code to show at the door.
