Group buy campaigns

Buyers get a discounted price, but nobody's enrolled until enough people join.

Growth plan and above
On this page

Group buy is a Growth-plan feature (Basic doesn't include it).

How it works

A group buy campaign sets a target headcount, a discount, and a deadline for one course. Buyers pay the discounted price right away, but nobody gets access until the target number of paid buyers is reached — as soon as it is, everyone who joined gets enrolled at once, including anyone who joined earlier while the campaign was still filling up.

If the deadline passes without hitting the target, the campaign fails: buyers who already paid keep their payment on record but don't get access, and need a manual refund from the Orders page — group buy doesn't automatically refund anyone, since real payment-gateway refund APIs aren't connected yet.

Setting one up

From a course's Pricing & sales tab (the "Checkout add-ons & group buy" section), start a group buy: set how many paid buyers are needed, the discount, and a deadline. Share the campaign link from there — buyers who land on the sales page or checkout through that link see the discounted price and a "waiting for group to fill" badge once they've paid, both on the order confirmation page and in their own course list.

A course can only have one group buy campaign active at a time, and group buy doesn't currently stack with a coupon code on the same order — checkout shows one or the other, not both.

What buyers see

A buyer who pays into an open campaign sees "waiting for enough people to join" instead of immediate course access. That status updates automatically once the campaign fills (or fails) — no action needed from the buyer either way.
